The legendary St. Petersburg State Ice Ballet returns to Greece and presents the classic ballet “The Sleeping Beauty” by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, choreographed by the great Konstantin Rassadin.
The Ballets on Ice of St. Petersburg, distinguished for their high technical excellence, uniquely combine the two great Russian traditions: classical ballet and figure skating. The Ballets were founded in 1967 and became world-famous for the new form of dance they presented. They have won many awards and honors, presenting more than 9000 performances around the world. They also owe their great reputation to the choreographer Konstantin Rassadin, who took over as artistic director in 1980. The contribution of the Music Director Leo Korkhin, who is the principal conductor of the largest orchestras in Russia, including the famous St. Petersburg Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra, is also significant. Today, the St. Petersburg Ballet on Ice includes more than 100 dancers and performs worldwide leading works of the classical repertoire such as “The Nutcracker”, “Swan Lake”, “Romeo and Juliet”, “ Cinderella”, “Sleeping Beauty”.
This year the top Ballets are coming to our country at the Thessaloniki Concert Hall in Thessaloniki and the Badminton Theater in Athens to present the top romantic ballet “The Sleeping Beauty” for some unique performances.
