There are some facts you may not know about this particular art.

  1.  Ballet originated in 15th century Italy.

  3.  Women were not allowed to dance until 1681, so they could not engage in ballet.

  7.  The first ballet to win an Olivier Award was “Romeo and Juliet” which was presented at the London Ballet Festival at the London Coliseum.
  8.  The energy required for a performance is equivalent to that needed for two full football games or running 18 miles.
  9.  A tutu It takes up to 90 hours of work to build, which is about 4 days.

 Every time a dancer makes a jump on the point three times his weight is transferred to the tip of his big toe.
