11-year-old dancer gets scholarship to American Ballet Theatre!

Little Anthony's viral video on Instagram earned him a place at one of the top dance schools in the world!

11-year-old dancer Anthony Mmmesoma Madu from Nigeria has secured a scholarship to the American Ballet Theatre, thanks to a video that went viral on Instagram.

In the video in question, little Anthony, who is a student at his country's Leap of Dance Academy, dances barefoot in the rain showcasing his talent.

When the clip was posted on his school's Instagram page, it was well-received by the public and went viral. Somehow, it also caught the attention of Cynthia Harvey, artistic director of the school's American Ballet Theatre. Dance Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis in New York. 

“A friend in Britain sent me the video and I immediately started looking for the kid,” Harvey told the Cincinnati Enquirer, who eventually got in touch with Anthony’s teacher and offered him a full scholarship to the American Ballet Theatre Summer Workshop. In addition to the little dancer, the New York school also offered Owoseni a two-week training program.

Given the travel restrictions due to the pandemic, the little dancer will take this year's lessons online, and the school provided free connectivity for Anthony and his teacher.
