Why are you spending time and money on dance lessons for your child?

Why are you spending so much time and money running your child to dance lessons?

One of my friends asked me, “Why do you pay so much money and spend so much time running around getting your kid to dance?” Well, I have to admit this: -I don't pay for my child's dance lessons...or for his dance shoes...or for his costumes..

“If you don't pay for the dance and everything else... then what are you paying for?” my friend asks me again.

And I simply answered him: – I pay for those moments when my child is so tired and feels like his strength is leaving him, but he doesn't……

– I am paying for the opportunity my child has to make friends that may end up being lifelong friendships…..

– I am paying for this opportunity for my child to have amazing instructors who will teach him that dance is not just movement but life itself……..

– I pay so that my child can learn to be disciplined…..

– I pay so that my child can learn to take care of his body……

– I pay to teach my child to work with others, to be proud, supportive, and respectful of team members…….

– I pay for my child to learn to manage disappointment when he doesn't get the result he was hoping for...

– I pay for my child to learn when he falls during a movement he has practiced a thousand times, to still get up and be determined to do better next time… – I pay so that my child can learn to strive and achieve his goals…..

– I pay for my child to learn that it takes hours… and hours… many hours… of hard work and practice to create a champion. He learns that success will not happen overnight…….

– I pay for my child to be at dance school, instead of in front of a screen …….

-Yes…I pay for the opportunities that dance provides for my child, to develop the characteristics that will serve them very well throughout their life and to give them the opportunity to contribute to the lives of others.

I could go on, but there are so many benefits my child gets from dancing that it's worth it!
