Ballet is a genre dance, originating from 15th century Italy, which later saw its development in its stage form, mainly in France and Russia. In its early form there is the absence of the use of scenery and it took place in large assembly halls, where the spectators occupied the seats in front of and on either side of the stage. Since then there has been an evolution into a type of dance of high technical demands, with its own terminology and structural composition. Of course, the musical accompaniment is mainly from the repertoire of classical music.

Schools around the world teach ballet. They incorporate elements of the culture and temperament of each people. The steps and movements define the dance, as part of a process called choreography.  Professionals in the field perform the choreography and include other forms of artistic expression, such as acting and the imitative.
