Dancing to Connect / I Dance, Therefore I Communicate No.4

A contemporary dance performance by students, which confirms in the most creative way, that yes indeed: dance unites! 200 students from Trikala and Athens dance to the rhythm of Dancing to Connect, on the Main Stage of the Stegi.

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                       For the 4th year, the Onassis Foundation Theater brings contemporary dance to schools, with its educational program for teenagers I dance, therefore I communicate., which aims to enhance students' creativity, self-confidence, collaboration and communication through the art of dance. The I dance, therefore I communicate., is based on the Dancing to Connect program, which has been hosted in more than 30 countries around the world.

The Stegi, in collaboration with the Battery Dance Company of New York (which inspired the program) and with the support of the US Embassy in Athens, has been training Greek dancers for the last three years to implement the program themselves.

The choreographies will be many, interesting and diverse, but with a common denominator: they will all be the result of collective work and improvisation, revealing the unifying power of dance, which is the main objective of the program.

Factors

Members of the group of dancers who participated in the previous three years: Nikoleta Karmiri, Candy Karra, Androniki Marathaki, Yannis Nikolaidis, Aris Papadopoulos, Martha Pasakopoulou, Elena Stavropoulou, Antonis Strouzas, Maria Fountouli, Elias Hatzigeorgiou.

Participating schools:

Athens Schools: 1st High School of Kamatero, 6th Unified High School of Kallithea, 26th GEL of Athens (Marasleio), 1st EPAL of Egaleo, SDE of Peristeri (Second Chance Schools).

Trikala Schools: Valtinos General High School, Megala Kalivia High School, Megalochori High School, 1st High School of Trikala, 5th High School of Trikala.
