Misty Copeland: The top ballerina recreates famous Degas paintings

Misty Copeland, with her talent and persistent effort, managed to become the first African-American ballerina to receive the title of leading dancer of the famous ballet company American Ballet Theatre. She also stood out with her participation in the “I Will What I Want” campaign that you can watch online.

Her development from a ballerina to a leading dancer in one of the world's most famous ballet companies has been a source of inspiration for many ballet enthusiasts and continues to be at the center of attention in the art world. The famous magazine Harper's Bazaar hosts a unique photo shoot with the famous works of Edgar Degas in its March issue.

As part of the exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art in New York entitled "Edgar Degas: A Strange New Beauty," Harper's Bazaar magazine decided to recreate the most famous paintings of the leading artist on the theme of ballet and with the ballerina Misty Copeland as the central figure. Degas was enthusiastic about dancers - both in the form of ballet and in the costumes - which was a source of inspiration for the paintings he created. Now the famous paintings take on a new form with the participation of Misty Copeland.

The photos feature haute couture outfits and are perfectly adapted to Edgar Degas' paintings. Check out the gorgeous images and scenes from the unique photoshoot below:
