Momix: The magical dancers in Greece with Opus Cactus!

The largest, most historic and most famous acrobatic dance group in the world, Momix, returns to our country with the legendary performance Opus Cactus, which will be presented at Pallas Theatre from December 21 to 26.

The “Alchemists of our illusions”, Momix , the world's most famous magician dancers, with renewed enthusiasm, fresh energy and many pleasant surprises, launch unprecedented expressive codes, to defy and audaciously despise once again the impossible, to transcendently violate the natural laws of gravity, to give a stunner to the myth of the impossible.

The Opus Cactus it is an amazing creation of the demonic choreographer Moses Pendleton, who manages to creatively and almost magically harmoniously connect flora and fauna through the bodies of the dancers, in an inspired, "highly sensual and instrumental representation" of the unusual natural elements of life and its microcosm Sonoran Desert in Arizona. 

The Opus Cactus It was originally planned as a twenty-minute performance by the Arizona Ballet. However, it was later transformed into a spectacular extravaganza of unparalleled beauty by the MOMIX: eternal stage surrealism, daring transformation game that hypnotizes the viewer and flirts with the mirage, satisfying our senses and highlighting the unlimited possibilities of this great group.

In a stage environment where dance intersects with circus, pantomime, shadow theater and sports, MOMIX proves that authentic creation and high aesthetics can coexist with popular entertainment and spectacle. Each of their shows is a natural aphrodisiac, a cultural elixir, full of surreal images and visual ideas, extreme inventiveness, abundant humor, boldness and imagination, suspended moments, dreamy lighting, special effects and above all sensitivity and flawless movement. From the December 21 to 26, MOMIX will be at Pallas to take us on a journey on their wings, taking us on their flying trajectories and dragging us into their magical, subversive and interactive universe. 1. The Momix is an American acrobatic dance team. It is the most important and famous artistic group of its kind internationally. Their founder and Artistic Director is the world-renowned choreographer Moses Pendleton.

Many rumors have been circulating for years about the origin of their name.The two most prevalent are the following: the title Momix is a neologism - a contraction of the name of their founder (Mo - ses) and the word mixture (MIX -ture), or that they simply took their name from a nutritional supplement for young cows. 

 7. They have fully taken over or participated in many official events, such as the opening ceremony at the Calgary Winter Olympics and recently the closing ceremony of the Sochi Winter Olympics. Always choreographed and directed by Moses Pendleton.

 8. Their headquarters are located in a forest in rural Connecticut.Specifically, in a basement of a 120-year-old Victorian house right next to the studio where they rehearse.

 9.  THE Moses Pendleton He is also an accomplished photographer and his work has been exhibited in Rome, Milan, Florence and Aspen. He was the subject of the book “Salto di Gravita” by Lisavetta Scarbi, published in Italy in 1999. He has been honored with the Positano Choreographic Award in 1999, while in 2002 was honored with the American Choreography Award for his contribution to dance in film and television.

 10.  They have given thousands of performances all over the world., while in Greece they are among the most beloved artists of the Greek public. In the last decade, more than 200,000 Greek viewers have seen a performance of theirs in Greece.
